Meet the new Muvhango dude

Actor Themba Nofemele recently joined Muvhango to stir up heat with tragedy-prone Thandaza (Sindi Dlatu).
Themba landed the role through Muvhango’s Talent Search, which was similar to Isidingo’s except that it was only open to auditionees in Jozi and Bloemfontein.
The search resulted in five finalists being up for the role, with Themba being selected after he spent two days on set, filming seven scenes a day to test his chops.
Stint
After his stint, the show circulated this in-house memo: "... we have found Ranthomeng!!! He sizzles on camera and his chemistry with Thandaza was simply amazing, or breath taking. The studio was abuzz from everyone on the floor and on set."
Themba has played guest roles on shows including Generations, Rhythm City and Mtunzini.com.
This is his first featured role - he made his first appearance on Thursday, June 3, with none is his tatt’s in sight:
Role
Oddly enough, the 32-year-old actor auditioned for another role on Muvhango some time ago, but it didn’t pan out.
However, his audition stuck in the mind of executive producer Duma Ka Ndlovu, who asked him to participate in a nationwide search for a ‘love interest for Thandaza’.
Credits
Fluent in several of the official languages (Zulu, Xhosa, Sesotho, Tswana and English), Nofemele’s TV credits include Tshisa, Mthunzini.com 2, Generations, Backstage and Rhythm City.
Delving into his character, the debonair and well-spoken actor shares: "He is a retired BEE businessman, who worked hard for his money. Tired of travelling the world, Ranthomeng returns home... and is looking for love."
And he doesn’t have to look very far - but Thandaza’s arch-rival, Meme, is also making a play for Ranthomeng.
Adamant about not giving away much of his storyline, Nofemele says: "My character bumps into these two ladies in a book shop. While it isn’t clear who he is going for, he knows who he wants."
That Nofemele has the highest regard for co-star Sindi Dlatu (Thandaza) is evident in the way he describes her.
"Sindi is an amazing actress and an amazing woman. I think whoever she is dating or married to is a lucky guy. She is a complete professional.
"When we go into character mode, there is a natural chemistry, which boils down to an understanding of the person."
As for whether Ranthomeng can succeed where Thandaza’s previous love interests failed, he hints: "He is a man with no hang-ups... what do you think?"
