MP Robert Magongo throws the big one
MOTSHANE—Christmas came early for the people of Motshane Inkhundla when their Member of Parliament, Robert Magongo, held a thanksgiving party yesterday.
The celebration saw over 200 people having a great afternoon and being treated to the best foods. People carrying over three doggy packs along the road to the Magongo homestead told the story better. it was a very big event. The MP’s home was filled with lots of cars and driving in and out became difficult on the one-way dusty road.
In his speech, the former cop told his guests that he was not going to Parliament to play, but to work for them.
"I already know what I will start with and it is exactly what I said when I was campaigning and that’s water. So all other projects will have to take a break and allow me to make sure that my constituency has water," he said.
He also thanked his Zion church, which he said organised the thanksgiving ceremony for him as they felt that it is a blessing for a person of his calibre to become a Member of Parliament.
Also delivering a speech at the ceremony was Lobamba Lomdzala MP Marwick Khumalo who congratulated his colleague on winning a seat in parliament.
Khumalo also wished him all the best in parliament and expressed his gratitude that they would be working together for the next five years. A few people who were interviewed said they voted for Magongo because they felt he was the right person to represent their interests in parliament.
"We are so happy for him and we know that with him we will achieve a lot. We want an MP who cares about us, who listens to what we say. we see that Magongo is the right person. We are so happy," commented Velabahleke Masuku, who is the area’s Indvuna YeLutsango.
Other notable people who also graced the event included Deputy Speaker Esther Dlamini, Labour Commissioner Jinnoh Nkambule and newly-elected Senator Bonsile Mngometulu, amongst others.
