MBABANE – Inkhosatana Princess Skhanyiso has undergone and passed all preliminary entry interviews into the police force.

This means the princess is part of the recruits who are currently undergoing training at the Police College in Matsapha.

However, the princess is currently out of the country.

The Inkhosatana had earlier expressed her interest in joining the police force, unlike two of her brothers who have joined and graduated from the Army.

Recruitment

Prince Lindani is now Second Lieutenant in the Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force.

The police recruitment interviews are in five stages, all of which Inkhosatana Sikha-nyiso went through successfully.

On the first phase, which is writing of aptitude tests, she passed with flying colours and was automatically recommended for the next interview, the field event that was held at the Matsapha Police College.

Other recruits have told the Swazi News that the princess finished the 800 metres track within the six minutes stipulated.

Training

Other recruits who witnessed this session said the princess came clad in training gear and appeared very ready to ‘go’.

It was said that when the shot signalled commencement of the race, she took off at high speed, which she maintained throughout the two rounds she made on the field, beating other aspiring girls.

"We were very shocked to see the princess mingling with us and taking up the tests because we had thought she would be exempted from all the hard work because of her royal status," said a witness, who is one of the recruits.

Other aspiring police said the presence of the princess encouraged them as it showed that she loved the police service and held it in high esteem.

Examination

The princess is said to have further done the other interviews which included medical examination and the appearance before the recruitment board.

When contacted to shed light on the matter, Police Public Relations Officer Superintendent Wendy Hleta said she was not aware of the princess undertaking the interviews.

She confirmed though that the recent recruitment process was at an advanced stage and that all the phases had been completed.

Hleta said this time they were looking at filling up 400 posts.

… she wants to pursue Masters Degree next year

MBABANE – Despite having passed through the recruitment exercise, Inkhosatana Princess Sikhanyiso is having ‘second thoughts’ about joining the police service.

She admitted that she was indeed a recruit in the police force.

The princess passed all preliminary tests in the recruitment process, together with other recruits who are now at the Police College in Matsapha.

In an interview yesterday, the princess said she had a passion for being a police officer, but due to educational reasons, she would not be able to start training when police recruits are admitted soon.

She said she will be leaving the country for Australia early next year to pursue her Masters in Digital Science.

Graduated

The princess graduated in the United States of America recently and holds a Bachelors Degree in Digital Science.

Princess Sikhanyiso left the country for Kuwait on Wednesday together with the Prime Minister, Sibusiso Barna-bas Dlamini and other princesses and princes.
