MBABANE - A Shoprite employee died on the spot together with two others when a car rammed into them.

The employee, a man, died while undergoing treatment at the Mbabane Government Hospital.

The incident, which claimed the three lives, happened next to the High Court gate opposite the government hospital.

Among the four people that were run over by the car only one woman escaped death as she was not seriously injured.

According to eyewitnesses, the white Toyota Tazz was driving at a very high speed yet the road is narrow.

A security guard at the Mbabane Government Hospital said every- thing happened so fast that they just saw the bodies strewn on the ground.

He explained that the car was driving down whilst the four were walking uphill on the roadside. He said the car rammed into the three people and dragged them into a small ditch by the road.

"I think the accident was caused by that the driver of the Tazz was very drunk, maybe he did not see clearly," he alleged.

The four occupants of the Tazz were slightly bruised as no serious injuries were reported.

Police PRO Superintendent Vusi Masuku confirmed the incident and said the driver of the vehicle had been charged with Culpable Homicide and drink-driving.
