Shiselweni star pupil's mum thanks school
NHLANGANO - Nonophile Lungile Dine, 17, of Our Lady of Sorrows High School, who got an aggregate 8 was the best performing pupil in the Shiselweni region’s schools.
She said she was surprised by her great performance even though she knew she would do well.
"I am happy with the achievement because it is a reflection of my hard work and dedication. I made sure I took notes when studying and did not cross-night and this is one factor I believe did the trick for me.
"I made sure I had enough time to relax and sleep and would also consult with my colleagues and teachers in case I encountered a problem. I was among the country’s top 10 while in Form III and I got a Merit and obtained 96 per cent, this shows how committed I am to be a better citizen in future," she said.
She explained that she was also inspired by a former pupil, Neliswa Nkala, who is currently doing BComm at the University of Swaziland.
"I am good in Mathematics and I want to be a Chartered Accountant when I grow up. I would love my mother to buy me a laptop as a gift," she said.
Any gift from mum is good - Evelyn’s best
Nqonyiwe Tenanile Mabuza, 17, Evelyn Baring High School, got aggregate 10.
Status, "Oh my God, I can’t believe this. I was dedicated to my work since the beginning of the year and I participated a lot in class. These are the fruits of my hard work. One thing I learnt about the exam was that it did not matter how much you read your notes but how you concentrated in class. I studied for a maximum of two hours on a daily basis between 8pm to 10pm and 3am until 5am. One other thing that pushed me to do well was knowing that I am without a father so I should grab the opportunity with both hands to live a better life and take care of my mother and siblings. I would love anything as a gift from my mother but something not expensive because I know she won’t afford it. I want to be a doctor because I am good in Mathematics and the Sciences."
Mother-Thulsile Mabuza- an unemployed resident of Mashobeni in Gege.
"She is now my only hope and I am happy for her. I pray her siblings emulate her good behaviour so that they can also do well at school. Tonight I will slaughter a chicken in honour of her hard work and I wish her father was alive to witness such blessing from God."
