NHLANGANO - A Form IV male pupil in one of the schools around Hlatikhulu in the Shiselweni region has reported a female primary school teacher to the police for allegedly drugging and having sex with him without his consent.

The pupil, aged 23, alleges the teacher had sexual intercourse with him without his consent after she gave him Liquifruit juice during a visit to her compound.

He said this was at the height of an affair he had with the teacher in which he once also caught a sexually transmitted infection.

The pupil says of late the relationship had waned as he wanted it to stop. However, she invited him for dinner at her house, situated within the school compound where he claims to have been raped.

The incident happened about two months ago but he has only recently reported it to the police as he claims the teacher is now harassing him.

The police have since instituted investigations into the matter and have also questioned the teacher over the allegations of sexual abuse.

The Form IV pupil claims he is blank with regards to what happened next and he was shocked and confused to wake up naked next to the teacher, with his private parts sore.

He said the teacher was touching his body with ice cubes when he woke and suspects he might have been drugged for sex.

The pupil’s homestead is situated about 100 metres away from the school.

For ethical reasons, the name of the pupil and his school will not be mentioned.

"The first thing I asked her was; ‘what happened?’ and she said she was sorry for having sex with me without a condom but she was determined to have a baby with me. The only thing I can recall was drinking that juice she insisted I must have, after telling her I had already eaten at home. I was shocked to wake up naked next to her. I simply dressed and went home. The time was around 4:30am," he said.

The pupil said as far as he was concerned, he was a friend of the teacher and not a lover and he was taken aback by her actions. He claimed the teacher apologised for her actions and claimed she was overtaken by her feelings.

Later on that fateful day, while he was in class at 8:45am, he said the teacher sent a text message denying she forced him to have sex with her without the use of a condom.

Movies

He also mentioned that, owing to the fact he treated the teacher as his friend, he often visited her at the teachers’ quarters and they watched movies until late and ended up having sex.

The pupil said he was once treated for a sexually transmitted infection (STI) and the teacher offered him E200 for it but he refused the money.

He alleged that during the Easter services, the teacher tried to bribe him by offering him a lump sum of money but he again refused on the basis he had suffered enough already.

"This was after she learnt I intended reporting the matter to the police and she asked me to state the amount of money I wanted so I would stop pursuing the matter. She argued that if people heard about the story she would lose her job and would be embarrassed by my confession," he said.

The pupil said he thought many times of committing suicide by shooting himself but he opted to confide in Pastor Simelane of the Evangelical Church during a Youth Convention held at Mhlosheni.

He said the pastor, through his connections, arranged counselling sessions at the Family Life Association of Swaziland (FLAS) and the Swaziland Action Group Against Abuse (SWAGAA).

"I think the counselling sessions are helping me a great deal because, slowly, I am beginning to cope," said the pupil.

He said the reason he was talking about the matter and had reported it to the police, even though so late, is because he wanted the culprit to be brought to book for sexually manipulating him and to send a strong message to the youth; not to keep suicidal secrets.

"My performance at school had dropped. I recently took an HIV test as I was not feeling well and what annoys me the most is the fact she tried to bribe me. My girlfriend jilted me after hearing that the matter and I am now a laughing stock in the area. Of late, she has been calling and sending threatening text messages. My thanks go to my brother, who stopped her from sexually abusing me further," said the pupil.

Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Wendy Hleta confirmed the matter and said it is being investigated by the Hlatikhulu police.

Hleta said the teacher has not been arrested so far, pending the completion of investigations.

...I was tempted to have sex with pupil - teacher

NHLANGANO - The female teacher admitted during an interview with this reporter that she had sex with the Form IV pupil and claimed she was merely ‘tempted’.

The teacher said she realised, after having sex with the 23-year-old pupil, that she had made a huge mistake and was sorry.

She was called last Monday afternoon.

"I don’t want to lie. I was tempted and it’s true I had sex with him. I then realised I had made a blunder and I’m sorry for that. I must say, however, that I did not put any drug in the juice and these accusations are hurting me as they are very serious. Just now, I have received a call from the Hlatikhulu police in relation to the matter. I told him to go ahead with exposing me in the media," said the teacher.

When called later that afternoon, the teacher promised to meet this reporter and give a full account of what happened after meeting with the police.

However, when called later, at 3:38pm, she said, "I have already recorded a statement at the Hlatikhulu Police Station, so call them and find out what happened. I am now not prepared to talk to you."

How can you be a Form IV pupil at 23. I think there is nothing like rape in this case. The student is an adult and went to the teacher's house knowing fully what his intentions were.

Take away the uniform, you then have a man of 23 years, with a full set of teeth, who's been dating the teacher for a while. I don't condone relationships between students and teachers, but I frown upon grown up men who go around claiming rape for nothing. How did his 'instrument' get 'up' in the first place if he didn't want any action? Only women are 'rape-able' and often do get raped painfully bekunene. Not men. The worst that can happen to a grown up man like him is to get molested by fondling. What was he doing in the teacher's house to begin with, when all other kids were at home? I know, I know, the teacher was helping him do his 'home work".

At 23 still schooling ? It seems as if this gentleman was doing this for sometime, the only thing I dont understand is why now is exposing this affair? Why did he have to visit the teacher alone?. Police dont have to waste time solving this lovers story. The best way for this gentleman just drop her & continue with ur school work.
