MBABANE – Fresh from touring and performing in England, Khayalethu Masuku, has been served with divorce summons from his wife Thabile.

Khayalethu, whose middle name is Elkas, jetted back to the country on Thursday after forming part of the Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors group that performed for three weeks in England.

He was yesterday afternoon served with divorce summons in which his wife, Thabile Octavia Masuku (nee Mdluli), wants the court to terminate their marriage.

Thabile has filed an application at the Manzini Magistrates Court in which she wants a decree of divorce be issued on allegations that Khayalethu committed adultery on numerous occasions.

On the other hand Thabile is also praying that the court issues an order calling upon Khayalethu to restore conjugal rights and if he fails a decree of divorce be issued.

Khayalethu has only five days, beginning from yesterday, to make an application in court opposing the divorce. Thabile, a member of the Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors, married Khayalethu on April 2, 2006 in Mbabane, according to the application.

The two had been staying together until they reportedly separated in November 2010.

In her particulars of claims, Thabile has broken her silence and alleges that Khayalethu committed adultery on different occasions since July 2005. She has since named three women from Makholweni, Maliyaduma and Fairview as his alleged lovers.

The names of the women have been omitted from being published for now pending finalisation of the matter in court.

"During the subsistence of the marriage and in particular since July, 2005 Khayalethu has on diverse occasions committed adultery with these women," claimed Thabile.

She alleges that Khayalethu had intentions of terminating their marriage by physically and verbally abusing her.

"He informed me that he did not love me anymore and wanted us to get divorced. He failed to support our child and also refused conjugal rights. He also failed to provide me with a stable home," alleged Thabile.

Thabile is represented by the Dunseith Attorneys.

‘...his conduct forced me to leave’

MBABANE – Former Ncandweni member and wife to Khayalethu Masuku, Thabile has opened up why she left her marital home in November 2010.

This is contained in her particulars of claim which were served to Khayalethu yesterday afternoon.

She has since alleged that Khayalethu’s conduct forced her to leave their marital home. She claims this was done for her "health and safety."

Khayalethu has the next five days to respond to the divorce application.

"As a result of the aforesaid conduct, I was forced to leave the marital home for health and safety in November 2010 and we have not stayed together as husband and wife ever since," alleges Thabile.

"In the premises Khayalethu has unlawfully, maliciously and constructively deserted me," she alleged.

She wants E1 000 a month for maintenance

MBABANE – Thabile Masuku, who wants out of her marriage with Ncandweni member Khayalethu, wants E1 000 a month for maintenance of their child.

In the event the two musicians get divorced, Thabile will forfeit the benefits of the marriage but take custody of the minor child. This is contained in the combined summons and particulars of claim served to Khayalethu yesterday afternoon.

"Khayalethu shall pay all the child’s school fees and expenses, including the cost of books, uniforms and lunches, until he completes his secondary education. Thereafter the parties shall share equally the fees and expenses of any tertiary education undertaken," states the notice.

"Khayalethu shall also pay the sum of E1 000 per month to Thabile as contribution towards the child’s support and transport to school. The amount shall escalate at the rate of 10 per cent on each anniversary of the date of signature of the Deed of Settlement," it states.

It went to state that Khayalethu shall provide reasonable clothing requirements of the child from time to time.

It's not the money that drives people to do this! It's PRIDE! Once we are up there at the top we think we own the world! Unfortunately there is no cure for this sickness! The Christians are the worst!

Themba! I like being criticised but good critics show maturity without prejudice. Were you feeling good or are you feeling good when white people refer to an act or characteristics of a few black people and say this is what black people are like? I know you don't,so don't stoop that low,I know you are a matured guy. and what other christians do is really annoying and shouldn't be condoned but it doesn't define christians and christianity.Don't allow your disgust on some of things done by some christians to cloud you judgement and you always matured comments.
