MBABANE – The Attorney General, Majahenkhaba Dlamini is alleged to have sent a mob to evict the late Nkhaba Chief Prince Bhekimpi’s widow from the Nkhaba royal kraal.

The late Chief Bhekimpi’s widow Inkhosikati Molta Dlamini is the acting chief of Nkhaba Chiefdom.

invaded

As the Nkhaba chieftaincy dispute rages on, a group of men are alleged to have invaded the Nkhaba Royal Kraal carrying all sorts of weapons and knobkerries.

They are alleged to have advised the acting chief and her headman (Ind-vuna) Dikida Shabangu to vacate the royal kraal as they were taking over the chiefdom.

The Inkhosikati clai-ms that the mob was accompanied by Prince Bhekimpi’s brother Prince Falala Dlamini a-nd Absalom Shabangu.

She has since filed an application before the High Court seeking an order interdicting them from threatening to evict her and from holding meetings in the area, which relates to the running of the chiefdom.

Dlamini claims that the incident happened on September 4, 2011. She claims that Dikida resisted the mob’s demands of leaving the royal kraal.

She claims that they were threatened with violence if they resisted and the situation was allegedly saved by the intervention of the police from turning bloody.

verily

"When the respondents invaded eNkhaba Royal Kraal, I am advised and verily believe that they were from Majahenkhaba Dlamini’s home, who is the son of the late Chief Bhekimpi. I am further advised that their launch and regrouping for such attacks is formulated in the said homestead," she states.

She also claims that Absalom Shabangu also came with the mob again on September 18, 2011 and they invaded the royal kraal demanding to hold a school committee meeting.

renovating

She claims that during the second invasion some community members were renovating the cattle byre in the royal kraal in preparation for the coming Incwala ceremony.

She claims that they were disturbed as a bloody confrontation was looming.

"I submit that the invasion of the Nkhaba Royal Kraal is unlawful as it is not authorised by myself or the inner council and it is also not proper as it has not been sanctioned by the Indlun-khulu. I submit further that should the respondents and their followers insist on my eviction, together with my inner council and should they hold the school meeting and or any other meeting, there is a likelihood of confrontation, which could potentially engender a serious breach of peace and pose danger to those involved," she states.

eviction

She alleges that she has had to intervene and her inner Council as well as the Nkhaba residents have vowed not to allow her eviction and the convening of a school committee meeting. She says she may not be able to stop the residents from doing anything to avert the alleged proposed eviction.

She claims that she was appointed acting chief in August 2004 after the death of Prince Bhekimpi who was the chief.

She argues that as acting chief, she possesses all the powers to convene meetings in the area. She also says she conducts day to day duties thro-ugh the inner council, which she chairs.

The matter was postponed indefinitely until the lawyers’ boycott has been lifted.

The acting chief was also ordered to serve the Attorney General with her papers as he has been cited in the matter.

...she is not acting chief – Prince Falala

MBABANE – Prince Falala Dlamini has denied that the late Chief Bhekimpi’s widow is the acting chief of Nkhaba.

In his replying affidavit filed through Lawyer Mbuso Sime-lane, Dlamini also denies that Inkhosikati Molta Dlamini is the eldest widow of the late chief. He also denies that Dikida Shabangu is Nkhaba Headman, but a warriors leader.

"I am the acting indvuna holding the reins of Shoza Mabuza who is incapacitated such that he cannot talk or move about. I am the only surviving senior male prince in the house of the late Prince Bhekimpi Dlamini and I am the head of the Lusendvo who may discuss the issues of Nkhaba at a family level," he states.

He also claims that the Lusendvo has broken into two and a minority is led by Dikida Shabangu who is not a prince or a relative to Prince Bhekimpi. He also denied that they invaded the Nkhaba Royal Kraal with weapons to evict the widow.

He claims that the alleged mob consists of people who are between 60 and 80 years and he himself is above 50 years, therefore they could have never thought of carrying weapons.

He claims that the alleged mob has children who would have dispossessed them of the said weapons.

"We never invaded the royal household, but went in there to advise the first applicant that we shall conduct a cleaning of the Royal Kraal. It had, prior to September 25, 2011, littered with broken beer bottles, plastic papers and general dirt.

Further the grass was overgrown and the vegetation in a sorry state. The cattle were also in a sorry state," he states.

He said they would conduct their business inside the Royal Kraal as advised by the Hhohho Regional Administrator, Dr Ben Sibandze.

He said the issue of two factions is known even by the higher authorities and his faction consists of many members.

He claims that his faction manages the day to day running of the chiefdom and Inkhosikati Molta Dlamini’s faction is free to join.

He also denied that the alleged mob was from the Attorney General, Majahen-khaba Dlamini’s home.

He claims that there was never any attack and they just passed by his home to inform him of their move as the eldest son to Chief Bhekimpi.

The matter is still pending before Court.
