S'gcoko' introduced as new Swazi TV CEO
MBABANE – Bongani Austin Dlamini is the new Chief Executive Officer of the Swaziland Television Authority.
Nokukhanya Gamedze, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors for STVA, announced Dlamini’s appointment yesterday.
Gamedze, in an interview, said the once popular radio announcer had been offered a renewable three-year contract.
"He’ll officially assume his new duties at the beginning of next month (November 1, 2011)," she said.
Dlamini, widely referred to as ‘Sigcokosiyancinca’, has already been introduced to management as the head honcho of the public broadcaster.
Gamedze said the new CEO was officially presented before management in a meeting yesterday morning.
"We expect a turn-around strategy from him in order to take the station to another level," she said. "I would like to appeal to management and the entire staff to rally behind the new CEO at all times."
The chairperson said they had already given Dlamini the company policy to enable him to familiarise himself with the operations of the station.
She hoped that the policy would help him to realise what would be expected of him while holding the reigns.
Dlamini said he was not only humbled by the appointment, but pledged to deliver to the expectations of the appointing authority.
He succeeds Vukani Maziya, who succumbed to death in August last year.
Mbusi Dlamini has been keeping the fires burning since the demise of Maziya.
Reputable consultants, Kobla Qhashie and Associates, were responsible for the recruitment process.
Gamedze confirmed that Dlamini emerged as the front-runner after the interviewing exercise.
"The consultants described him as achievement oriented," she said.
‘Sgcokosiyancinca’ joins the station from the Ministry of Agriculture where he held the position of Principal Assistant Secretary.
