We are sorry, says kombis association
TSHANENI-The Swaziland Local Kombis Association (SLKA) has asked for forgiveness from the families of the 14 passengers who died in a tragic kombi accident two weeks ago.
Spea-king during a prayer service held at the accident scene, the Chairperson of the Association Sibusiso Mthimkhulu said the association was sorry for what happened.
"I can’t find words to express how we feel as kombi owners but what I would like to say to the families of the victims is that, we are very sorry," said Mthimkhulu.
Mthimkhulu added that as an association it pain-ed them to see their custo-mers dying in road acciden-ts.
He said peo-ple had to understand that their main duty is to safely transport the public not to kill people.
He noted that some people think that transport operators are only concerned about money but said this is incorrect adding that transport operators are also concerned about the safety of passengers.
He said as an association they do engage other stakeholders like the Road Transportation Council in organising workshops for drivers.
Mthimkhulu then promised to assist relatives on processing claims from the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund.
He explained that in such cases some people do not know the procedures of claiming from MVA if their love ones have died.
Some prominent figures who attended the event were former Police Commissioner and Senator, Edgar Hilliary, Minister of Labour and Social Security Lutfo Dlamini and businessman Robinson Zeeman.
