SITEKI – Plans are underway for the construction of a shopping mall worth E43 million, which will definitely change the face of this town for the better.

The structure will be constructed on a piece of land measuring 8 500 square metres, which is situated adjacent to the Siteki Galp Filling Station, near the Siteki Hotel.
Upon completion, the structure would be named ‘The Lubombo Mall’, according to officials who are part of the project.

Groundworks at the construction site have already begun but the actual construction process is scheduled to commence in the coming weeks and is expected to run up to the third and fourth quarter of 2018.
This means that the project, which will be the first mall for the Lubombo region, would be completed at around this time next year.

Project

Directors of the project are residents of Siteki but they will be revealed during the official launch of the project in the coming weeks.
Last Saturday, a meeting was convened at Siteki Hotel for stakeholders in preparation for the start of the construction process.
Addressing the meeting, Mavela Sigwane, who is the Director of SIMAV SHEQ Consultancy and Training, told stakeholders that his company had been engaged by the directors of the project to handle health and safety matters during the construction process.

“An environment management programme shall be managed and implemented for the project in line with the requirements of the Environmental Management Act of 2002,”said Sigwane.
He explained that the significance of the meeting was to get the input of stakeholders and residents of Siteki on what they would like to see incorporated into the risk and environmental impact mitigation plans.
Sigwane said residents and stakeholders would be called again to a ‘statutory meeting’ once the project had received ‘categorisation from the Swaziland Environmental Authority (SEA).’
During the meeting, residents expressed their excitement about the project and further hailed the directors for choosing to invest in Siteki town.
