MBABANE – If you are looking at owning a bakkie, sedan, motorbike or TLB, you had to be at the Swaziland Water Services Corporation (SWSC) auction.

Buzzby Services, which had been appointed by SWSC to sell by public auction various items which included heavy plant and motor vehicles, managed to successfully sell items on offer raking in over E1.3 million in the process.

The auction, conducted at the SWSC yard at the Matsapha Industrial Sites, starting from 10am lasted for about an hour on Saturday.
Buzzby Services’ Auctioneer Walter Bennett invited bids from businesspeople and individuals who waited with bated breath to make bids after having paid a refundable deposit of E10 000.

Notable faces among the entrepreneurs who were at the auction which attracted about 30 people included Tommy Kirk and Van Wyk among others.
The most pricey item on offer was a Bell TLB 315 TLB 4x4 2010 which had worked for 9 135 hours which went under the hammer for E392 000.
The lowest item bought was a canopy that got sold for only E3 600.

Walter Bennett said the auction managed to attract successful bids because the SWSC fleet was well managed and had exceptionally good prices.
He said the fact that some bidders drove away in their new vehicles was evident that the vehicles were in good condition.
“We are exceptionally grateful for the good turnout,” said Bennett.

Reasons why some people were at the auction included that they would re-sell the motor vehicles while others said they would use the cars for personal errands.
“I will repaint the bakkie and place it on the market to make extra cash,” said one of the bidders who preferred to remain anonymous.
