ONLINE COMPANY REGISTRATION GETS UNDERWAY
MBABANE – Innovation all the way. This seems to be the new motto of registry of companies which has introduced an online registration platform for businesses in Eswatini, established an electronic company verification system for financial institutions and has availed a mobile tracking system for businesses.
Registrar of Companies Msebe Malinga, explained that new businesses could now be registered online and be issued with a provisional registration certificate valid for a period of 21 days through accessing the direct link on https://www. gov.online.sz.
Payment
During the 21-day period, company director(s) or their preferred representatives should then submit memorandum and articles of association together with achnowledgement of registration.
Other documents submitted when registering a company include, but not limited to, Form J (document showing directors), Form C (document showing shares allocation in the business) Articles.
All these documents can be downloaded from the online registration web page which became live in April.
“We are proud to announce that in the quest to become a First World country by 2022, we have introduced an online registration platform for businesses to help ease the process of starting a business in the Kingdom of Eswatini,” said Malinga during an interview at his offices on Thursday morning.
Malinga disclosed that within the next three months, they would launch a service that allows for payment of registration fees electronically and e-filing of company documents.
“The ultimate objective is to fully automate the entire process of registering a business and submission of essential documentation such as company renewal applications and annual returns,” Malinga explained.
The registrar also mentioned that they also have a tracking system that allows businesses to be able to trace their company registration renewal dates. Malinga said businesses that may be interested in utilising this service should dial *468# on their mobile phones and provide details about their institution, which culminates in the issuance of a text message with the required information.
Further, Malinga disclosed that businesses seeking credit or opening a bank account at First National Bank (FNB) would also be verified electronically, courtesy of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that has been entered into by the bank and registry department.
Interested
“We are open to more financial institutions which may be interested at utilising this service but they would first have to sign a MoU with us,” added Malinga.
Investor Roadmap Unit Director Albert Chibi, said it was impressive that the registry of companies were working hard to improve the process of registering a business in the country.
