E1.8M FOR PROJECT MANAGERS OF CHOICE
MBABANE – Project Managers of Choice stands to be granted a E1.8 million tender to manage ESCCOM’s proposed five storey headquarters.
The company outwitted Steve Hall Development Consultants, who scored 69 per cent to emerge as best evaluated tenderers for the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM) multimillion project. The Project Managers of Choice scored 89 per cent.
Maphanga Mitchell Associates, which had also tendered for the job, were not evaluated because they did not meet the 70 per cent technical scoring passing mark. The company also managed to amass 47 per cent during technical evaluation.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mvilawemphi Dlamini, announced that in accordance with the Procurement Act of 2011, the approvals authority had reached a final decision to the effect that Project Managers of Choice had been selected as the ideal project managers. Dlamini mentioned that a period of 10 working days would be allowed for the submission of any application for review in line with the procurement act.
“The tender award decision does not constitute a contract,” Dlamini clarified. The tender results were as a result of ESCCOM’s business opportunity for the project management of their offices at Ezulwini. The regulatory body for the communications sector in Eswatini encompassing telecommunications, broadcasting and postal services, data protection in electronic transactions and the management of the radio frequency spectrum resources currently housed at Sibekelo Building at the Mbabane Office Park.
The commission has initiated a project to construct and establish its own office structure at Ezulwini Office Park, where a piece of land has been acquired for this purpose, to serve as a base for management and operational activities. The site for the project is situated at ‘The Offices’ precinct in Ezulwini (Hhohho District). The area of the plot is approximately 3500m2 and the site is accessible from the MR103 main road running through Ezulwini. As part of the project implementation process, the commission engaged the services of Building Design Group (PTY) LTD as project Architects.
“The project architects are currently in the initial stages of the design of the project,” read the invitation to tender in part.
The project, among other things, seeks to create a workplace environment that promotes knowledge transfer, communication, collaboration, improve productivity between all the key stakeholders in the work of the commission, including the board, staff, licensees, users of licensed services and other interested parties.
