MBABANE – MTN Eswatini ensured that tourists stayed in touch with the rest of the world.
The company introduced the MTN Tourist Sim Card that was aimed at visiting customers during the recent Bushfire festival.
The Tourist Sim Card enabled customers to buy, register a SIM card and get a pre-loaded Combo that included local voice, international Voice and Data.
According to MTN Eswatini Corporate Affairs Manager Mandla Luphondvo, the cards retailed at E99 with 15 minutes International voice, 45 minutes local on-net voice and 1GB Data pre-loaded to specific starter packs.
These SIM Cards, Luphondvo said were made available at tourist entry points/border gates and at specific MTN outlets along the country’s entry points.
He mentioned that customers who bought the starter packs were connected instantly after successful VELA registration. Asked on the number of sim cards that were sold during the festival, Luphondvo said they were still consolidating the figures.
Worth mentioning, tourists at the MTN Bushfire festival were seen purchasing their starter packs at different service points. They also mingled and interacted with the company’s mascot which was in a form of a cellular phone.
