E209M BUDGET TO BRING MAJOR CHANGE TO EZULWINI
MBABANE – Infrastructure development and improved road networks are part of the E209 million that the Ezulwini Town Board will use to attract investors.
These developments are contained in the Ezulwini Integrated Development Plan 2019-2049.
In the first five years of implementation, the business community stands to benefit from E209 980 500.
The opportunities that lie ahead for the entrepreneurs are in the construction industry, recreation, recycling and information communication technology.
This is because the development envisaged in the town, as published in the IDP draft report, shall include improved government services availability in the town, more recreational activities being brought to the municipality, 70 per cent waste recycling and incineration services and 100 per cent asphalt finish roads.
The recycling or buy back centre shall be under the office of the town engineer just like the implementation of the public parking services within the town. This is envisaged to be implemented in 2021, according to the draft report.
Public parking has become a revenue generating means for many towns as they seek to minimise traffic congestion within city centres.
While they fight the traffic congestion, entrepreneurs also benefit as an opportunity for companies seeking to render this service on behalf of the town would be engaged.
These services shall also be accompanied by the use of drones and other robotics employed to improve service delivery within the town.
While improving the lives of the residents, the services shall also avail supply demands which could be explored by the entrepreneurs.
Listed
The focus areas of the IDP draft were listed as resource mobilisation, governance, risk and compliance, and infrastructure development and improvement.
Also, there is stakeholder engagement and service delivery, local empowerment and sustainability. The office of the town engineer shall review building rates while the municipality seeks to diversify the source of its income.
The town seeks to rely on 50 per cent on rates while formulating other strategies to raise the money.
The timelines set by the town for providing civic services by 2024 (Administration) are that in next year, land shall be acquired and during the course of the following year it shall avail an opportunity to the business community through procuring consultancy services.
This shall be followed by engaging stakeholders during the same year while in 2022 civic centre designs shall be attained from architects.
Following this, services of contractors shall be sought to construct the civic centre which shall be anticipated to commission in 2024.
