RENAC’S MAJOR INTERNATIONAL TENDER

MBABANE - Royal Eswatini National Airways Corporation (RENAC) intends to hire services of aircraft ground handling companies for international services.

The tender is for the ground handling of flights in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Proposals for provision of the services by licensed companies in either one or both countries will be considered. RENAC is a company with limited liability incorporated in accordance with the Company’s Act of the Kingdom of Eswatini. RENAC is within the aviation sector in the Kingdom of Eswatini and is a holder of both aviation fuel and ground handling licences. The services are to be provided in South Africa (Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban as well as in Harare, Zimbabwe.

When one is to about to travel by plane, there is a series of actions that are carried out. These include approaching the check-in area after passing through security checks; one arrives at the boarding gate, where another employee makes sure the boarding card is in order. In addition, another employee takes the passenger to the aircraft by bus if it is parked at a distant location. In the meantime, other workers have filled the aeroplane with fuel; other agents have provided the catering.

Handling

All these people, who perhaps remain unseen by most passengers, belong to what is known as ground handling. In other words, these services are provided while the plane is on the ground. A variety of such services are provided, including check-in, boarding, ramp handling, and maintenance, cleaning, catering and fuelling. The handling company shall not be liable for immigration fines in the event of non-bona fide travel documents or other events, which are outside of their control.

Bankruptcy

Meanwhile, the tenderers must disclose, if they or any of their subsidiaries are or have been the subject of any proceedings or other arrangements relating to bankruptcy, insolvency or financial standing. Disclosing if the tenderer has been convicted of any offence relating to professional misconduct is also one of the requirements. Bidders are also expected to have fulfilled any obligations relating to the payment of taxes in Eswatini. The closing date for submission of the proposals is November 16, 2021, at the RENAC, Matsapha International Airport Road, Gate No. 6, Matsapha no later than noon. Tenderers are expected to submit one original document of the tender document and one soft copy (soft copy to have scanned copies of the hard copies).
