CONDOLENCES POUR IN FOR ZANELE MBOKAZI

MBABANE – A giant has fallen.

The passing of legendary TV and Radio Zanele Mbokazi has been felt by many. The Crown Gospel Music Awards founder died In the early hours of Monday, August 12, 2024.The announcement was, made by her husband on their social media pages and the statement read “It is a heavy heart that we Nkambule and Mbokazi family announce the passing of our dearly beloved Ms Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, founder of Crown Gospel Music Awards and Ukhozi FM Radio personality. She departed to be with the Lord; early hours of 12 August 2024, at Parklands Hospital. We are grateful for all the prayers, love and support we received throughout her illness. The family would appreciate privacy as we navigate through this challenging time”.

Zanele Mbokazi was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year and had been in and out of the hospital since then. The family decided to make the diagnosis known to address the rumours. The late radio personality’s strength and faith were evident throughout her journey. Despite her struggles, she remained hopeful about overcoming her illness and expressed gratitude for the support she received from her spirituality and professional network. Some people in the entertainment and Gospel industry have expressed their condolences and shared memories of their interactions with her. With a number of them acknowledging her contributions to the media industry, her impact on the lives of many will always be remembered and her legacy will continue to inspire others.

Sipho Makhabane: “I do not know where to start, what to say, but at the end of the day we have to accept it and it has happened. Zanele Mbokazi will be remembered as a giant that has contributed immensely in the entertainment and Gospel industry. “Her contribution for creatives will always be appreciated. I had known her for over three decades and we had a good working relationship. She will be remembered as a strong, brave woman who fought for what was right; especially when we talk about the Crown Gospel Music awards .We will keep her husband, children, family and the whole Gospel community at large in our prayers.”

Phetsile Masilela: “I am still in shock, I had hope for her recovery. It is a huge loss for us in the Gospel industry as she was a pace-setter and was a woman who promoted excellence through the Crown Gospel Music awards and she empowered a number of Gospel artists. Sincere condolences especially to her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, their children and entire family.”

Larry Mhlanga: “I am still reeling from the news of Zanele Mbokazi’s passing. She was not just my boss, but a mother, mentor and role model. I had the privilege of working with her for four years, and her influence on me is immeasurable. Zanele was a force to be reckoned with. She was a guru in the public relations and events industry, and her attention to detail, speed, and efficiency were unmatched.” Nduduzo Matse: “It is with a heavy heart and shock that we mourn the loss of a mother, visionary leader, a force to be reckoned with. She saw what other people could not see and implemented it. The gospel industry became respected and professional through her vision, Crown Gospel Music Awards and her music workshops.”
