ENTITIES ENCOURAGED TO EMBRACE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
MBABANE - In pursuit of excellence in procurement, public procuring entities are encouraged to prioritise the digital transformation of their procurement processes.
This offers the opportunity to enhance efficiency, streamline operations and promote transparency. Speaking during the first day of the symposium, Nkululeko Dlamini, Director of Supply Chain Management, who was representing the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, said by leveraging innovative solutions, they could optimise their decision-making processes and ensuring that they were making informed choices that benefit the public good. Dlamini said as they embrace these advancements, they must also remain vigilant about the ethical considerations that come with them, ensuring that their procurement practices uphold the highest standards of integrity.
He said sustainability is another critical dimension that they must incorporate into their procurement framework. He said the principles of environmental stewardship and social responsibility should guide their decisions, allowing them to contribute positively to the communities they serve. “As we strive for a more sustainable future, we must align our procurement practices with global standards and frameworks that emphasise the importance of responsible procurement and ethical practices,” said Dlamini.
Integrity
He added that it was essential that they cultivate a culture of integrity and accountability, where procurement professionals are empowered to make decisions that reflect a commitment to serving the public interest. He said by fostering an environment of transparency, they could build trust among all stakeholders and ensure that procurement processes are fair and equitable.
