RESCORP SPENDS OVER E1.4BN ON LOCAL SUPPLIERS
MHLUME – The Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation (RESCorp) has continued to enrich local businesses as over E1.4 billon is spent on local supply, annually.
This was shared by RESCorp Managing Director (MD) Nick Jackson in an interview with this publication on the sidelines of the company’s annual supplier’s day held at Mhlume Country Club, yesterday.Jackson said this amounts to at least, over 75 per cent of their spending that goes to local companies. He stated that yesterday was all about explaining to the locals the opportunities available to the company that other businesses can tender for.
Jackson said it was not all about the heavy plant tendering opportunities that are available. He said there are other opportunities in the catering service space among many other services that can be offered to the company. He said yesterday was also about explaining what is expected out of the suppliers. He said as a company, they are always looking for new suppliers.
The MD mentioned that it was worth noting that they have strict rules, in terms of who can supply and how to go about the processes.
He said, for instance, for one’s company to supply, companies should be registered, tax compliant and compliant with to all the rules and laws of the country. He added that it was worth noting that the company had recently consolidated all its assets into one entity. This means that there is no more Mhlume or Simunye. He said this is important to note for suppliers when submitting their invoices to avoid directing Mhlume or Simunye, but simply RESCorp.
