GCINANGAYE APPOINTED GAMING CONTROL BOARD MEMBER
MBABANE – Gcinangaye Tsabedze, the former Deputy Director of Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) has been appointed as a member into the new Gaming Control Board.
Tsabedze, who is currently serving as the Director of Tourism under the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, is part of the eight-member Board that is chaired by Mandla Lucky Dlamini. The latter replaces Simo Simelane who was holding the Chairperson position in the previous Board. The development was communicated through the Legal notice No 169 of 2024, which was published on December 13, 2024. “In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 11 of the Eswatini Gaming Control Act 2022, the minister for Tourism and Environmental Affairs issues the following Notice: This Notice may be cited as the Appointment of Members of the Eswatini Gaming Control Board Notice, 2024. This notice shall be deemed to have come into force on November 1, 2024,” reads the notice.
Exceeding
The term of office for the members of the Gaming Control Board shall be for a period not exceeding three years.“The members of the Gaming Control Board shall, except the members who represent agencies whose policy does not permit external remuneration, be entitled to such allowances and retainer fees as prescribed for Category A group 3 enterprises,” reads the notice. The members of the Board shall, in addition to the remuneration under Sub-Section 2, be entitled to car mileage and subsistence external travel allowance equivalent to employees of the Public Service Grades E4-E6.
The Eswatini Gaming Control Board’s primary function is to regulate and control all aspects of the gaming industry within the country, including licensing casinos, monitoring operations, ensuring compliance with gaming laws. It also includes investigating any potential violations, with a focus on mitigating potential social impacts like gambling addiction by establishing and maintaining a dedicated fund for assistance.
