PM LAUNCHES NATIONAL COMPETITIVE COUNCIL

EZULWINI - Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini officially launched the National Competitive Council (NCC), a milestone initiative aimed at enhancing Eswatini’s global competitiveness and fostering a thriving business environment.


Dlamini stated that the NCC will serve as a high-level advisory body, bringing together government, private sector representatives and development partners to craft policies that improve Eswatini’s economic standing.


He stressed that the council’s primary objective is to identify and dismantle barriers that hinder business growth while promoting investment and innovation.


“The National Competitive Council will ensure that Eswatini remains an attractive destination for both local and foreign investors,” the Prime Minister declared. “We must position ourselves as a competitive economy that can effectively participate in regional and global markets.”


The council will focus on several key pillars:
Regulatory and Policy Reforms: Streamlining policies to make Eswatini more business-friendly.
Skills Development: Enhancing workforce readiness through vocational training and leadership development.Trade and Investment Promotion: Improving Eswatini’s position as an attractive investment hub.


Adoption


Digital Transformation: Accelerating the adoption of technology to enhance productivity and service delivery.Infrastructure Development: Enhancing road, energy, and digital infrastructure to support economic growth.


Dlamini also revealed that the NCC would play a crucial role in shaping the implementation of Eswatini’s National Development Plan (NDP 2023), ensuring that economic policies align with private sector needs.


“This council is not just another advisory body; it is a vehicle for actionable change,” he affirmed. “We are committed to ensuring that Eswatini competes at the highest level.”


The prime minister called upon all stakeholders—government ministries, the private sector, academia, and civil society—to actively engage with the NCC and contribute innovative solutions that will drive Eswatini’s economic transformation.
