TUM FURIOUS WITH MOBILE EXPO ORGANISERS
MBABANE – Businessman Tum du-Pont is furious with the organisers of the Mobile Expo show.
The show, which took place at the Siteki Hotel on Friday, was hosted in conjunction with Kool Swazi Entertainment and featured top South African acts such as Shimza, Shota, Big Nuz and DJ Tira.
The show, where award-winning kwaito star Professor was a no-show, was attended by less than 500 people.
The Manzini businessman alleges that the organisers publicised that the event would take place at his hotel known at Tums Waterworld.
This, he alleged, they did without reaching an agreement with him or any member of management from his hotel.
“I do not take kindly to what these people did because it spoils the image of my hotel. They made posters advertising that the event would take place at my place without reaching an agreement with us. This is not done and I am still consulting because I want to take action,” du-Pont said.
He said clients who wanted to use his place on the mentioned date ended up abandoning such plans as they thought it was not available.
Kool Swazi started promoting the show around mid-October and named artists such as Cassper Nyovest, DJ Cndo, iFani and Heavy K as some of the main acts.
They also had the name Tums Waterworld on the posters.
After a few days, they put up newly-designed posters which had a new venue (Siteki Hotel) and new main acts.
Kool Swazi’s Mfundo Mbhamali said the issue of the venue was not on his plate and said his focus was on getting the musicians.
“Yes at first the venue was Tums Waterworld but that was a deal between Muzi Dlamini and the venue’s Marketing Manager. I do not know the terms that they agreed on because it was not on my plate. I only focused on getting the musicians to come to the show,” Mbhamali said.
