MBABANE – While the entire Swazi nation was celebrating Incwala, former Miss Swaziland Samukelisiwe Magagula was involved in a near fatal car accident in Matsapha.
She was later charged by the Royal Swaziland Police with negligent driving.

The former beauty queen was driving the VW Polo which she won after being crowned the country’s most beautiful lady.
Magagula must be cursing the gods after the accident as she had to wait for her whole reign before getting the car.

When reached for comment, she was evasive with the details but did confirm that the police found her on the wrong side of the law.
“I am surprised you got that but then the police came to the scene and I believe they can furnish you with all the details as to what happened. I am done with the media and there is nothing I can tell you.”
She also refused to tell us whether she sustained any injuries during the accident or not.

Refused

Former Miss Swaziland Director Thandeka Matse also refused to comment about the matter.
“I am no longer part of the Miss Swaziland pageant and as a result, I cannot comment on the matter. The best person to comment is Samu or her parents,” Matse said.
Police Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed the accident.

“I have the report about the accident and I was told it involved a beauty queen by the name of Samukelisiwe Magagula, who was charged with negligent driving. I was also told that her car was severely damaged,” Matse said.
Swaziland Beauty Pageants Association President tony Dlamini also confirmed the news although he mentioned that he had scanty details.

“The accident was reported to us by the former director of the pageant and sadly, we haven’t heard anything from the former queen. It is unfortunate that she is no longer under our guidance so there is little we can do,” Dlamini said.
However, Dlamini promised to investigate the matter to ascertain the extent of the damage of the car and injuries sustained.
Magagula’s reign ended on November 9, 2014 and her princesses were Nadia Nascimento and Melissa Marvis.
