EX-KIP KIP DANCER ON DJ CLEO’S VIDEO
MBABANE – Former Kip Kip dance group member Xoliswa Mthethwa has landed herself a dance scene on DJ Cleo’s latest music video.
The original member of children’s youth group Kip Kip features in the South African house music DJ’s latest hit song and video titled ‘Lalavuka’.
Xoliswa who is currently based in South Africa for her tertiary studies, not only gives a great dance routine throughout the video which was aired on Channel O for the first time this past Sunday September 7, but also provides backing vocals on the song.
The talented Xoliswa said she was very excited about the dance and vocal contribution she provided on DJ Cleo’s new song, as he is one of the best DJ’s in the industry. “I was very lucky to get a call back as over 500 girls auditioned for the dance part and as someone who loves dance, I personally decided to join the auditions just to pass time as my first love will always be dance. It is then that the judging panel including DJ Cleo asked if I could do a solo vocal for them, as they wanted to add a female voice to the song and what better way than to have the lead dancer singing too,” said Mthethwa.
Mthethwa said it was not the first time she had met DJ Cleo, as a number of friends had introduced her after hearing that the house DJ was looking for a new female vocalist. “Nothing much had ever come out of the brief meetings as it was mainly during busy shows but my dance talent really impressed Cleo, therefore, also giving me the platform to sing,” she adds.
She further went on to thank ex-Director of Kip Kip, Macford Sibandze for discovering and nurturing her talent, as well as her former group members who helped her perfect her skills.
“There are many young people in the country who are talented and simply need the platform to showcase their skills. During the formation of Kip Kip there were not many people like Macford Sibandze who afforded the youth the centre stage to perform and for that I will always be grateful to him as I look up to him as my mentor,” said Mthethwa.
