SWAZI ACTOR IN LONDON FILM

MBABANE – Sibusiso Mamba, a Swazi born actor who has internationally made a name for himself, is set to star in the new London’s Royal Court theatre cinematography’s ‘ I see you’.
This is a co-production of Mongiwekhaya’s new play. Sibusiso was born in the kingdom in April, 1978, he was and still is the only Swazi student to have gained admission to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London through a satellite link audition.
Mamba is expected to make his Royal Court debut with ‘I see you’. Other theatre productions that the Swazi born Actor has debuted in include ‘Sizwe Banzi is dead’ which was screen played in Young Vic Theatre, in London and UK.
Sibusiso is a script editor on the South African television show Skeem Saam and is international associate artist at Crossroads theatre in New Jersey in the United States of America.
Story
Mamba is set to star in this Royal Court play as ‘Masinga’, the story is based on a true story and movingly addresses the questions of a new generation of Africans encountering their countries’ traumatised past.
‘I See you’ was Mongiwekhaya’s Royal Court debut play and was presented as part of international playwrights, Genesis foundation project that was developed during the Royal Court’s new writing project in South Africa which began in 2013 and was supported by the British Council and connected to the rest of the African continent.
‘I see you’ will run at the Fugard Studio Theatre from 5 to 28 May 2016, Tuesdays to Saturdays at 8pm with a matinee on each Saturday during the season at 4pm. The Fugard theatre is situated in the heart of District six, on the corner of Harrington and Caledon streets in Cape Town.
