MBABANE – Lack of funds stopped Mrs Africa contestant Nosisa Maziya from taking part at the continental finals which were hosted on December 2016.

Maziya,   who was selected just three months before the final pageant did not make it to the continental pageant as she failed to complete her required charity tasks on time.

Pageant SD director Catrien Potgieter confirmed that the period for getting the contestant ready was very short, as they had a dilemma with former contestant   Rolleen Da-Silva not being available  for her duties  just a few months after she was selected.  As most of the other contestants had close to six months to prepare for the finals, Nosisa  Maziya  tried  to  utilise the three months that she had  by hosting the  first Royale Pageant which was all about fundraising  for the finals was one of the requirements to qualify for the finals.

Potgieter added Pageant SA has all the relevant international licences, to participate in the continent’s beauty pageants. The Mrs Africa has  always seen other African countries dominate, and this would have been Swaziland’s first time.

Last year was actually the first year they owned the entries for the whole continent to take part in the finals. As a way forward for the next competition, the entry forms for Mrs Africa 2018 are already available on Pageant SD’s Facebook page and all those who would like to take part in the competition can now enter.

Once they have enough entries they will then select Swaziland’s representatives. “This time around we will have more time to plan more on Mrs Africa and to also promote the concept of Mrs Africa title.
