OVER 20 COMEDIANS FOR SD’S 1ST COMEDY FESTIVAL
MBABANE - If you want to add some laughter to your life, you better not miss the Swaziland International Comedy Festival.
Over 20 comedians are expected to take part during the first ever three-day comedy festival to take place locally. The festival, which was launched on Monday night at Sibane Hotel, will feature international comedians who come from as far as the United States of America.
The inaugural instalment of the Swaziland International Comedy Festival will be a three-day comedy extravaganza with the comedians performing in multiple shows at multiple venues in the country. The festival will kick off from Thursday, April 27 to April 29, 2017.
The first set will be held at the House on Fire Amphithetare and is themed ‘Juste Pour Rire’. The stage is sponsored by Alliance Francaise de Mbabane and House on Fire will feature international comedians in what is expected to be an intimate set-up.
The second set of the festival will be held at Sibane Hotel on Friday, April 28. The Sibane Hotel stage is themed the ‘Deadly Funny’ stage and will see comedians who pull out all the stops when it comes to jokes in their mother tongue. The English Language will be incorporated for those who find it hard to grasp other languages so that their material will be enjoyed by everyone.
The ‘Deadly Funny’ stage is an Indigenous comedy performance that celebrates the unique humour of the comedians’ indigenous language.
The George Hotel will be the place to be to catch the final day of the festival on Saturday, April 29, at The George Hotel in Manzini.
This hotel will host the ‘Ribcrackers stage’ where it will be comedy without boundaries. The show features top globetrotting and multi-award winning international comedians.
