QUAD ELEMENT CANVASSES FOR MTN SWAMA MAS NOMINATIONS

MBABANE – Swaziland’s sensational boy-band Quad Element of ‘Mhlatsi’ fame have joined a host of other local artists who are canvassing for nomination for the forthcoming MTN SWAMA Music Awards.
The band officially unveiled their posters for nomination last weekend on social media, instantly attracting hundreds of comments from fans within and outside the country.

Other categories they have expressed desire to be nominated for include ‘Song of the year’ for ‘Mhlatsi’, ‘Best Afro Pop’, Best Video for ‘It’s a love thing’, Best Jazz, and Best Newcomer.
The group released their debut album ‘Love Traces’ in 2016, a ten-track album which has runaway hits ‘Sanibonani’, ‘Buyelani ekhaya’, and ‘Mhlatsi’ among others.

The four member group is made up of Enkosi, Boifut, T-Boi, and Mayos, and is considered as one of the most sought-after bands at corporate and national events.
“We are excited that fans are already endorsing our desire to be nominated for the inaugural MTN SWAMA MAs. We really think we are among local artists who have worked tirelessly to make our music industry worthwhile, and any form of recognition would really boost our morale,” said Thabile Mdluli, the band manager.

‘Mhlatsi’ dominated the airwaves in 2015 and 2016, and became number one on the weekly SBIS Top 20 charts for five consecutive weeks. Their latest single ‘It’s a love thing’, also found in the album ‘Love traces’ also clinched the coveted number one spot.

Meanwhile, Mdluli went on to encourage local artists to take their craft seriously by professionalising their acts.
She said initiatives like the MTN SWAMA MAs were testimony to the fact that the industry was moving towards formalisation.

“What’s happening in the industry at the moment is very encouraging. It would be folly for us not to reciprocate that by giving out our best: in terms of quality of music and in terms of the business management side of things. We laud both MTN and SWAMA for their strategic insight,” said Mdluli.

Mdluli went on to urge fans to nominate Quad Element by sending an SMS to 79262 before April 30 as this would be the day of the closing date for nominations. Nominees will be announced shortly after April 30.
