MBABANE – “There is no need to panic, we are aware and resolving the issue.”

These are the words of MTN SWAMA Awards organising committee Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini following a temporary glitch in voting lines on Tuesday night.

Fans of nominated artists have been flooding the Entertainment Desk with phone calls as they have been raising concerns about the voting lines not being effective. This comes after a number of people from the public complained that their SMSes were reporting not delivered. They further raised concern that they are worried at the fact that their favourite artists might be losing on votes because of this error which might tampar with their chances of winning.

Dlamini confirmed the fact that they have been getting complaints from the public in terms of their voting lines sometimes not working.
“The public is urged not to panic when this happens but first check that they have more than E2.00 airtime, for those that are pre-paid MTN customers. Voting costs E2 per sms. Post paid customers can also vote and everyone can actually vote as many times as they wish.

“In the event that airtime has been verified, we also ask that the public checks that it is the correct voting line number: 79262 before they send, (Instead of 76262)  It’s a very simple number and if you notice you will realise that the correct number is actually spelt SWAMA on your keypads.

Other than that, which I have mentioned, we do have instances where it is simply an unforeseen General SMSC issue and the MTN technical team has been very helpful in sorting those issues.
