SWAMAS TO BE AIRED LIVE ON SWAZI TV
MBABANE – TV Licence has partnered with MTN SWAMA Awards and sponsored the awards to the tune of E10 000 cash.
This was announced during a press conference held at the Mountain Inn on Wednesday afternoon where TV Licence project manager Khanya Magagula presented the cheque to the SWAMA team.
The partnership entails that the artists that are nominated for the first ever MTN SWAMA Awards encourage people to pay their TV licences.
Making his remarks at the presentation Magagaula said that a common question people ask is why they should pay their TV licences, something he felt artists with their ability to reach and influence the masses could educate a lot of people about the purpose of paying the TV licence.
“In order to have better programmes aired on our local station we need the viewers to make a contribution toward the improvement of the content and production,” he said.
He said the reason they chose SWAMA for this partnership is that they are so far very impressed by the work that the music association does.
He added that this partnership was not just temporary but starts a long-term relationship between the two establishments. Speaking on behalf of the artists rapper KrTC said that he was passionate about the TV licence drive as he believed that the Swazi story can only be told best by Swazis and if Swazi are meant to tell their stories paying ones TV licence would ensure that Swazi TV is able to produce more local content made by locals.
