MISS MANZINI TEEN 2017/18 CROWNED
MBABANE – She was a crowd favourite and she walked away with the crown.
On Saturday afternoon at Riverstone Mall Miss Manzini Teen Michaela Peters was crowned Manzini’s most beautiful teen queen during an event that was mostly attended by the youth.
The event was a great success and all the contestants exuded confidence on the ramp.
The finalists were first selected to the top 12 and then cut down to the top 5. The girls that made it to the top 5 were Sikhulile Mngometulu, Melinda Mavuso, Sindi Dlamini,Notsile Dlamini and the eventual winner Michaela Peters.
Melinda Mavuso was crowned second princess while Notsile Dlamini was first princess.
They walked away with fabulous prizes which included clothes from IAMSOSWAZI, perfumes from Heneque and hampers from Perfect Choke. The queen was presented with a Samsung smart phone on the day.
The judges for the event were Miss Tourism Swaziland Nadia Nascimento, Former Miss Cultural Heritage Nosipho Dlamini and model Emmanuel Mckom.
All went well during the function as people were jolly throughout the contest and cheered on their favourites.
The Event Organiser Winile Mavuso expressed appreciation that people came out in their numbers to support the pageant. She added that the teen queen would be an ambassador for the Manzini region and be exemplary.
The beauty responded impressively to her question which was posed by the judges. They asked her what disease she would like to eliminate and she said HIV/AIDS because it has killed so many Africans, a response the crowd seemed to be very impressed by. Speaking to this reporter Pageant Swaziland Director Catrien Potgieter said that because the teen beauty was still underage, the Swaziland National Arts and Culture Council has assured the parents of the teen beauties that they would handle them professionally and each time they have to leave the country would require consent from their parents.
“The teen beauties will not leave the country ‘willy nilly.’
“The council and Pageant Swaziland have reached an agreement that each time the beauties leave Swaziland for another country the council should be made aware and their parents should have signed a consent form about the beauties’ departure,” said Catrien.
