‘NO CROSSOVER SHOWS FOR US’
MBABANE – The local gospel music boat is seemingly in turbulence. Iconic gospel group Shongwe and Khuphuka and recent SABC Crown Award winner Nduduzo Matse have disputed their involvement on local crossover gospel shows.
The artists, who have made a mark in Swaziland and the whole of Africa, stated that they will not be performing at the annual Gaw’zela Crossover and the inaugural Siyewela Crossover which was launched by Association of Christian Artist in Swaziland (ACASWA) .
Leader of Shongwe and Khuphuka, Reverend Elias Shongwe, said that he has not been booked in any of the crossover shows according to his knowledge, yet he has seen posters and flyers with the group’s name.
“As far as I know, I have not been booked in any of the two shows, and also, I have not been approached as yet. I have not made a solid agreement with any of the two parties that are hosting,” said Shongwe.
He also revealed that he was aware that he has been put up on the line-ups without his knowledge.
In the same breathe, SABC Crown Gospel Awards Best of Africa winner Nduduzo Matse also said that he has not confirmed any of the two shows, despite being put up as a performing artist.
“As far as I know, I am not scheduled to perform in both the Gaw’zela and ACASWA’s Siyawela Crossover,” he said.
The man of the moment though, did not state his plans for December 31.
“I have pressing matters that I might have to tend to during the crossover; and those matters do not involve both the local gospel crossover shows,” he said.
