MBABANE – A young woman with a big heart, Miss Teen Swaziland has done it again, for the good of the society.

Miss Teen Swaziland Tyra Johnson was crowned in July and has officially began her charity duties and responsibilities as a beauty queen. Her first step is helping with development of the Sterkstroom community in Manzini .

Johnson set out on her ‘Let’s go green Sterkstroom’ campaign last Saturday, which was all about cleaning up the Manzini township. During the event she ran a competition where there were prizes to be won for whoever picked up the most litter around the community.

Hampers

There was also a dance off competition where goodie hampers were won.
One of the prizes was a solar accessory kit sponsored by Electric Source also known as Masoso. Johnson said the mini competitions were a motivation for the youth to joins her in the cleanup campaign.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the Councillor of Manzini Ward 7 Mxolisi Mabuza who showed massive support on the day.
‘‘Not only did he contribute towards making Sterkstroom clean, but also towards buying groceries to feed those who attended,” said Johnson.

She further thanked her senior beauty queens Miss Swaziland Linda Hutchison and her second princess Baby Mthimkhulu who also came to support her on the day.

She said as part of her long-term goals as Miss Teen Swaziland 2017/18, she would like to encourage the rest of the country to try and not litter and conform to the on-going green effect movement happening globally.
