MBABANE – The theatre fraternity in the country is also making moves towards achieving Vision 2022.

After being dormant for almost a decade, the Association of Swaziland Theatre Groups (ASTG) has been revived and all this has been made possible by the internationally recognised Arterial Network Swaziland.

Deployed

The project was led by Arterial Network’s Maswati Dludlu, who then deployed a new committee to oversee the livelihood of the revived entity.
“As the country is celebrating 50/50 in 2018 the theatre fraternity does not want to be left behind. Arterial Network Swaziland (ANS) has achieved its goal of reviving the Association of Swaziland Theatre Groups (ASTG).

This comes in light of the fact that this association became defunct because of a lack of resources and technical support,” he said.
Structures
Arterial Network Swaziland has seen it fit to revive all theatre structures in Swaziland to lead, unite, support and provide strategic and professional direction for the development of theatre in the country.

The organisation’s effort of hosting an event on June 17 last year became a dream come true.
This event was held at the Swaziland Theatre Club in commemoration of the ‘Day of the African Child/Youth Day,’ based on the fact that theatre resonates well with many children and young people the   world over.

The event was meant to assess the talent, the interest and the passion for theatre.
After the event  those in attendance deemed it fit to revive the Association of Swaziland Theatre Groups (ASTG) and the Swaziland Theatre for Children and Young People (SWATCYP).
