MBABANE – Two years after its release it is still trending! The video of the hit song ‘Khulula Ugcobo’ by Nothando Hlophe has amassed over 2 million views on YouTube. This is the first time ever a Swazi artist has reached that number of views on this digital platform.

This is a song that is led by a Swazi in Hlophe, written by a Swazi in Siyabonga ‘Sukz’ Sukati, and recorded live in Swaziland at Mavuso Trade Centre.
It is part of the ‘Women in Praise Live in Swaziland’ project which went on to get Crown Gospel Awards and SAMA nominations in 2016.

The artist is currently signed under Leserato Events Management, and they could not hold back their excitement. “We are really excited for Nothando on this milestone she has achieved. This is a great platform to build on for sure as it shows the direction her music is taking. It has already opened so many doors for her in the industry,” said Sphiwe Nxumalo who is a Manager at Leserato Events.
Nxumalo said with more hard work, dedication, and focus she definitely had a bright future. “From the day she won the Women in Praise auditions, she has never looked back and we, as her management team, are proud of her and we look forward to seeing her realising her full potential,” she added.

Speaking to the artist herself , this is what she had to say,  “I am really excited about the milestone in the early stages of my career. Being on this platform has really opened many doors for me as a musician and surely has laid strong foundations for my upcoming DVD recording.

“To the amazing team that keeps pushing boundaries for me to experience new and greater heights, I truly appreciate your efforts. Our efforts will soon be rewarded in a big way.Without all the media houses, I would not be known at all, so I truly appreciate and I am humbled by what you have done and continue to do for me.”
Hlophe has taken the lead from local afro soul sensation Sands who recorded one million views in 2017.
