MISS SD FIRST PRINCESS EMBARKS ON BOOK DRIVE
MBABANE – She is embarking on a journey of grooming a youth of bookworms. Miss Swaziland First Princess Zethu Manana is embarking on a book drive where she will be distributing books to schools with a high prevalence in orphaned and vulnerable children.
The book drive will take place between April 9, 10 and 14, 2018 where the beauty queen will setup a book stand at the Bhunu Mall in Manzini.
Members of the public are encouraged to donate their second hand books, from literature books, novels and/or motivational books.
These books will then be distributed to schools. Books that will be accepted for donation are those that are suitable for primary school children.
This initiative started last year when Manana visited the different schools where she was delivering motivational speeches where she promised to deliver the books, leading to the book drive.
Manana said she had always been a bookworm and it had been her wish to spread the hobby as there was hidden power in books.
Tarnished
“I have had conversations with many people whose future was tarnished by low English marks. This hurt me and I made a promise to myself that I will try to play my part in curbing this.
“Every child deserves a chance to be exposed to novels and other good reads. It is true that English is not our mother language but it is an internationally recognised language, so being fluent in it is important,” she said.
