MBABANE – The first ever Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors Crossover gospel music festival is underway.

The Entertainment Desk can confirm that the group, led by former Lubulini Member of Parliament Timothy Myeni, will be hosting a show on December 31. The show will take place at the Manzini Club.
This means this year, gospel music lovers will have to choose among three shows. The two others are the famous Umlilo Gospel Crossover hosted by Mduduzi ‘Gawuzela’ Simelane and the Association of Christian Artists in Swaziland (ACASWA) Crossover.

Preparations for the show have already started. Myeni has already started engaging other artists for the show, which is expected to feature local and South African artists.
Myeni confirmed that this year, the group will be hosting its very first  crossover event  in Manzini.

“We have been attending shows in the country and fans have been coming from as far as South Africa to witness our performances. They have not been getting enough and they felt we should now host our own so they can get as much of us as they please ,” he said.

Myeni made it clear that while hosting such a show had been in his  mind for over two years, he took the decision after attending  last year’s Umlilo Crossover held at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre. “I sang at 5am the next morning and there were people from South Africa who were there  just to watch Ncandweni perform. We only sang two songs, and as you can imagine they were disappointed. They came up to us and  asked that we consider hosting our own event,” he said. He assured music lovers that they would have a good time during the show, saying fans would be given more updates of the show as time goes on.

Some of the music lovers who were asked about the new concept, said they felt it was a good idea as it gives them a variety to choose from, come December 31, 2018.
They felt this will also improve the standard of gospel music in the country.
On another note, Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors has new faces.

The group has brought in new singers who have made sure that they the way they sing does not disappoint the group’s fans.
Only four familiar faces feature on the group’s latest album, while the rest are new members. The famous faces are Timothy Myeni, his wife Sibhekile, Khayalethu Masuku and Sihle Mathunjwa.
