HIPNOTIK FESTIVAL 2018 COULD BE THE LAST !
MBABANE – Either you shape up or forget about HipNotik 2019! Following tweets that Swazi Jive has been posting on their social media timeline, most followers and fans of the HipNotik Festival have been questioning themselves if this could be the last HipNotik Festival.
In a rather emotional speech to the fans, festival Founder and Swazi Jive Director Sakhile Nkambule said he would be forced to shut down the festival if fans continued to act in an unruly manner.
He cited mainly underage drinking, that has tainted the brand to a point where sponsors were reluctant to partner with the festival.
He said this also affected the quality of the show that the Swazi Jive team was able to deliver to the fans.
“Days before HipNotik, it saddens me to announce that if we do not change our behavior as young people HipNotik 2018 - Hip Hop Heaven could be the last HipNotik ever.
“Our days of celebrating urban music, friendships, creating unforgettable memories could be a thing of the past,” said Nkambule.
Adults
Asked why alcoholic beverages were sold at the event in the first place, Nkambule said it was not only the underaged that were followers of the show but adults too hence their expectations and needs should be considered as well.
“We can longer stand behind the fans if they do not stand by each other.
“We need each and every one of you to be accountable for yourselves and each other during this year’s festival.
“If you are below 18, do not drink, if your friend /sibling is below 18 do not allow them to drink.
“If you can’t control yourself please do not come because you could be the reason the festival is prohibited from operating any further in our kingdom,” added Nkambule.
