MBABANE – If things go well, they will sing all the way to Parliament.

With the nomination exercise being held over the past weekend during the Eswatini National Elections, top gospel artists have been nominated. Forming part of the artists who were given a vote of confidence by the people of their constituency, is former president of the Association of Christian Artists in Swaziland (ACASWA), Zakhele Ginindza. Ginindza, who is a police officer, was nominated at Kwaluseni. It is the first time for Ginindza to take part in politics. He is also a member of gospel group, Police Gospel Messengers.
Also getting a nod was Gcina Masuku, who is otherwise known as the ‘God Is Goodoo’ popular Zion artist and will be running for the Ntondozi MP position.

Another artist who was nominated is former Nhlambeni MP, Frans ‘Magwinyagwinya’ Dlamini. Dlamini was nominated at kaShoba and if he wins during the secondary elections, he will be the new Mpolonjeni MP. Not to be left out in the list of gospel artists who have been nominated is Mduduzi ‘Gawuzela’ Simelane, who hopes to be the next Siphofaneni MP. The candidates will first contest during the primary elections to be held on August 18. Those who will win will continue to let the people decide on September 21. These artists confirmed that they had been nominated, adding that they were more than ready to serve their people.

Ronnie Dlamini, ACASWA Public Relations Officer (PRO), congratulated all the artists who have been nominated, saying it was good to see that gospel artists have suddenly taken interest in politics. “As they continue with the journey, they should remember that they have a huge task and that is of spreading the good news to the people,” he said.
