MDURA, IDOLS FINALIST HIJACKED

MBABANE - “Sometimes bad things happen to good people.” This popular saying proved to be true to Eswatini’s top comedian Mduduzi ‘Mdura’ Dlamini, when he got hijacked and robbed of his items last Sunday at Mahwalala in Mbabane.


Mdura, who was in the company of his manager Larry Mhlanga and South African Idols Finalist Xmile, were hijacked and robbed around 10pm, after performing at the popular MTN Rhymes and Laughter show at Sibebe Resort.


In the tragic incident, the South African star was robbed of a Huawei P10 cellphone worth over E13 000 and about E4 500 cash, totalling the loss to over E17 000.


It is said that the incident prevailed around 10pm when the comedian was driving his manager, Mhlanga, and his children to his house in Mpolonjeni through the Nhlanganisweni road.


Blocked


Four unknown and armed men blocked the road, hijacked the car at Mahwalala and robbed them of their items after attempting to steal the car.
After being defeated in stealing the car, the four men flee the scene, living the victims unharmed.
Confirming the incident was Mdura, stating that it was tragic. However, he stated that he was grateful that they were left unharmed.

“We are grateful for our lives and for being left unharmed.
There is nothing they took from us that we cannot replace with time,” said the comedian.


Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, confirmed this tragic incident.
“No arrests in relation to this incident which befell the comedian and his acquaintances have been made,” said Vilakati.
