MBABANE - “They who Wait Upon The Lord, Shall Renew Their Strength, They Shall Mount Up With Wings of Eagles, They Shall Run and Not Be Weary.”

This popular verse from the book of Isaiah 40v31 which instils hope in people has proven to be true for Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors member Khayalethu Masuku whose song titled ‘Njengedluzela’ which he composed in 2001 was revived by the internationally acclaimed MTN Joyous Celebrations.

Premiered

The song was premiered on SABC 1 during the South African gospel music ensemble’s 23rd album last weekend and it was led by Eswatini born gospel music guru Londiwe Nxumalo, who joined the choir last year.

Masuku, the man behind the song, told this newspaper in an interview that he was aware that MTN Joyous Celebration was going to feature his song in their new album which will be officially dropped in March next year.

“The team approached me and I succumbed to their request of having them use my song which I produced in 2001 in their album.

Agreed

“They agreed on crediting me as the composer of the song,” said Masuku.
Masuku said he was guaranteed royalties from the song as the composer once it starts airing.
Nxumalo, the current leader of the song, said she was happy to incorporate a liSwati in such a beautiful initiative.
“I was part of the people who spoke to Masuku before we recorded the song and he agreed to it. He also gave me details of his records at SAMRO (Southern African Music Rights Organisation).

“I acknowledge and respect Eswatini talent such that I made sure the song was credited to him,” said Nxumalo.
Nxumalo is originally from Hluthi in the Shiselweni Region but she was residing in Hlatikhulu when she was recruited by MTN Joyous Celebration last year September.
