In 2016, when the inaugural Big Five Crossover Party was launched, the organisers promised that the show would grow and so far, they live up to their promise!

Eswatini arts industry, specifically the music art form, has grown exponentially in the past decade; this has been a result of the contribution of significant players including Big Fun Ent, Claiming Ground Records, Esibayeni Lodge, Mega Sound and Swazi Boy Entertainment.

These entities have dedicated their time and resources in building the music scene in the country and its growth has shown the importance of giving the audience music that is significant to the Eswatini culture and as such authenticity, quality and music that amasses the propensity for mass appeal and as such these have been the pillars of Claiming Ground Records productions, which has seen the exposure of a lot of notable artists to have come out of this country.

One of the most important platforms to promote music has always been through performances around the country and at regional level, where through different events organised by the different entertainment agencies, emaSwati have had access to professional and well organised band ensembles and as we approach the festive season, the value of performances becomes the centre of attraction at events.

 bigger and better

Themed ‘Colour Your Soul’, this year’s showcases promises to be bigger and better, with music selection set to cater for the masses across all ages. The theme has been set to encourage patrons to be in touch with their inner selves, and unleash the colours of their souls as they unapologetically celebrate the end of the year to afford yet another eventful one.

As it has been the norm in the past, the main dance floor, themed ‘WE DANCE AGAIN’ will bring so much energy, celebrating all genres of music with a highlight of what has been dominating the charts both locally and across our borders. This is where a dose of hip hop, gqom, old school and the likes will be served. This floor is set to cater for different people with diverse musical tastes, hence it being the main floor.

INTO DEEP SESSIONS is known to afford patrons a journey of musical bliss, while keeping them in touch with soulful and deep house tunes guaranteed to connect with your soul. This year is no different; the line-up has been set to ensure a memorable experience that will definitely remain fresh in the hearts and minds of those in attendance.

The introduction of THE KINGS & QUEENS OF TOMORROW STAGE has been brought to life to accommodate and give a chance to the young upcoming stars, while mentoring them to be better entertainers tomorrow. Having realised the massive emerging talent presented by the future generation, it remains vital to afford a chance to them, allow them to serve a dose of current and future smashes and stay in touch with the emerging patrons.
To add to the fun while aligning with this year’s theme, a colour splash has been organised , hence patrons are encouraged to be in white T shirts for colour visibility.

All the entities mentioned above have in the past decade hosted their own shows during the festive season however. It has been noted that this arrangement was not viable for Emaswati during the festive season as it divided fun lovers across numerous venues across the country. Through an unprecedented and visionary concept, all these entertainment entities pulled their forces in a partnership dubbed The Big Five (Big Fun, Claiming Ground Records, Esibayeni Lodge, Mega Sound and Swazi Boy Entertainment).  This partnership has been running for the past two years.

The main objective is to host a memorable 24 hour  All Swazi Crossover party, ushering the nation into a new year in the most amicable and agreeable venue. This concept established in 2016 launched a long term partnership which allowed these entities to grow the music industry in a professional and rigorous manner.

Having hosted a variety of South African Artists in the past, the event takes a new form to focus on local talent it was attested to by all the partners. In doing so, the Big Five hopes to realise its main objective of creating a vibrant music business in the country which will allow artists to thrive in their chosen careers.

This event primarily reaches out to a demographic of 18 to 45 years across Southern Africa.
This year the event targets 10 thousand fun lovers and will be treated to three different stages, offering a wide selection of live music, from artist performances, poetry and Disk Jockeys around the country.
