MBABANE - Hard work pays off.

For two years, local hip hop artist Mozaik woke at sunrise worked on vocals, beats and instrumentals for his first ever full-length album. The prominent music producer and co-founder of Claiming Grounds Records showcased the fruits of his hard labour when he launched the album with sets of live performances featuring the equally talented S-cubed band. The classy event was held last Friday night at The George Hotel conference room where the veteran musician and producer let loose and produced killer performances while donning a stylish black and white checked suit. It was a special night for the music superstar as the event was not only defined by the fine performances he rendered on stage but also by the big crowd, which filled the conference room to the brim.

The venue was re-designed to depict an infusion of a classy lounge and wild kasi feel with couches, old tyres and rugged off-cuts all making part of the fine decor. The stage set-up was  of international standard. As soon as the host of the night, Phila Dlamini, announced the beginning of the show, a female vocalist introduced the audience to the taste of the new album before the man of the moment, Mozaik, real name Muzi Ngwenya, emerged with the tunes of his song ‘Good Vibes’ banging behind him. The audience went wild and the music maestro was welcomed with cheers and rounds of applause by the lively music lovers. The renowned music producer developed his own music style by blending multiple genres such as pop, RnB, mbhaqanga, traditional Eswatini sounds, and afro soul; however, everything is tied together by the hip hop tunes which are dominant in the album.

According to Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) CEO Stanley Dlamini, the album is simply a whole bag of good music. This, as the Arts and Culture leader was seated in the front row while Mozaik unleashed one hit after another and Dlamini would be seen appreciating the music through rounds of applause. It was no surprise when his followers failed to contain themselves when he unleashed the song ‘Right on Time’ as this upbeat song as everything a music lover would ask for. The song was played three times on the night as the audience could not get enough of it.
