MBABANE - Wordsmiths’ superpowers are embedded in their words! This was proven by poets who were reciting educational and sentimental poems at the ‘Blanket Your Words’ show at the Eswatini Theatre Club in Mbabane on Saturday night.

The show saw performances by Eswatini’s elite poets including Ntobie, MoCats, Sbu J and others.

Humorous

Ntobie was one of the sterling acts of the nights as she recited ‘Manzini’, a humorous poem which displays the daily life of Manzini and a poem from John 1v1 in the Holy Bible.

MoCats stole the attention of the attendees with her siSwati poem, which emphasised on inkhondlo (poem).
Sbu J, on the other hand, rendered a poem about his love for a broken woman, which touched on gender-based violence.
Majaha ‘Poetic Soul’ Nkonyane, the host and main act, was a marvel to watch, especially because he recited poems about his love life.

Illustrated

The poems illustrated falling for a woman, getting dumped who gave birth to the poetic side of him.
Nkonyane, crowned the country’s best Poet at last December’s SWAMA Awards, hosted the show with the goal to give back to the community, especially this winter season.

The initiative came to life as the attendees arrived at the show with blankets and other items, which were to be given to the destitute.
