MBABANE – Blessed is the hand that gives than the one that receives.  This mantra holds true to Sekela foundation as they gave out backpacks and awarded students under their theme initiative of raising awareness through youth empowerment and walking a child to school.

The foundation, this year is celebrating five years of existence since establishment in 2014, is driven by the aim to provide school shoes, socks, and hygiene packs to school-going children.

“We work in collaboration with teachers to identify the beneficiaries, and the selection of these recipients is purely based on social need rather than academic requirements,” explained Nosipho Dlamini who is the Public Relations Officer. The founder and chairperson of Sekela Foundation, Sithembiso Dlamini, expressed his enormous appreciation to all the parties involved and urged other entities to support this initiative and change a child’s life.

“It’s very important that we play a meaningful role as a nation and address this issue by supporting initiatives that seek to address challenges faced by our children. I rally behind the initiative and wish everyone can support these kinds of initiatives. Anyone can do it; it’s possible. You just have to have a willing heart.”

“We thank JR Digital Branding for sponsoring us with t-shirts, Macmillan Education Eswatini, SMB investment and individuals who supported the initiative.” Dlamini further added.
Vulindlela Nxumalo, a social worker was among the team, who is also a motivational speaker under the theme, ‘Importance of Education’, including Nothando Maseko, Mfundo Simelane also known as Ndosh the comedian, Speech Umlangeni and Mr Kangaroo.

Ndosh the rib-cracker expressed his appreciation and also invited the public to support such programmers’.
“A whole lot of other people wait until they are old enough to be great, but that’s the opposite for a young man named Sithembiso, the founder. True to his name, it sounds like some covenant between him and God that he actually serves; and yes, He has kept his promise,” he said.
