MALKERNS – They brought their fire and made money while at it! BUSHFIRE 2019 Traders made a total of E4.5 million over the weekend of the three-day festival.

Traders entail the stalls which were at the Global Food Village, Market Place and the Kidzone, which were all a hit during the festival.
These statistics were revealed by House on Fire’s Marketing Officer Bongani Dlamini during the After-Burn event at House on fire Amphitheatre on Wednesday night.

The After-Burn is an event to appreciate all those who supported the event and its other mandate is to reveal the post-mortem statistics.
According to Dlamini, this year’s BUSHFIRE was the most successful, and this was proven by the 30 000 people who attended the festival over the three days. These people came from 55 countries around the world.

It is the first time for the festival to hit the 30 000 mark as festival-goers totalled to just over 20 000 over the past five years. On Saturday only, there were over 16 000 people who attended the festival and this included the staff and traders.

Other interesting figures that were revealed was that there were 22 bars which were spread evenly across the festival arena and 4.5 kilometre fencing was used.

House on Fire Director Jiggs Thorne commended all the stakeholders who made the festival a success.
“We are already preparing for next year’s festival and already, the pre-registration process is beginning in August and tickets will be out in September.
“BUSHFIRE is becoming a big movement and evident to this is the fact that preparation starts early every year,” said Thorne.
