MBABANE – “This year it will be better and exciting.”  These words were echoed by Calinyatsi Kunene, who is the Public Relations Officer of the show dubbed ‘Air show Extravaganza’ that will take place at Matsapha International Airport on September 21, 2019.

In an interview with Kunene, assured the nation nothing but the best as last year was a let-down due to bad weather conditions.

Changes

“This year we are bringing something new, with a few changes from what people are normally used to as far as our activities are concerned. We are still checking with the Meteorologist Department in terms of the weather and they have given us the green light,” he said.
They are planning on having an Aston Martin car racing with the aircraft.

“We will be bringing aircraft lovers a race between a car and an aircraft which we are still yet to choose, but we will be using an Aston Matin,” he said.
He also revealed that they would have no line up for performances this year.

“Because of time, we decided not to include artists in this show, we will have activities throughout the day,” he said.  Fun lovers will see thrilling stunts from the South African Airforce; they will be showcasing the Gripen which is a fighter jet.

Moreover, Kunene also shared that there would only be Mastin P51D craft, which was a craft used during World War II
“We are looking forward to the Mastin P51D as it will be showcasing a few stunts, considering the fact that it is the only craft left in Africa that was used in World War II,” he said.

The children’s section will have exciting and unique games as the whole show will be themed ‘celebrating army.’  “Our games will have interesting features under the army scenes; such as shooting games, driving games and many more which we hope the public will enjoy. We would also like to assure the nation a safe environment for the young ones,” said Kunene.

Tickets are available at all Galito’s outlets.

 Entrance

The entrance fee for children under the age of 12 will be E60, E120 for general and E400 for VIP.
Kunene explained that the VIP tickets will also go with VIP parking.

On another exciting note, the day before the main show, which is on September 20, pupils from different places will be invited to the airport for lessons.
Kunene said they were still yet to decide on what criteria to use when selecting the schools that will be part of the seminar.

“We will be showing them around the premises and different crafts, we hope they will be inspired and educated,” he said.
