MBABANE – Spanking New!

Formerly calling themselves ‘The Fransonians’, the gospel choir was formed in 2015 by three former Franson Christian High School friends. Sthando Ndwandwe-Kunene, Sharon Simelane-Mamba and Mzwandile Dlamini have a very strong church background from the Christian school down at Mhlosheni. Just after 10 years of finishing high school, they decided to meet and sing during weekends.  However, due to the nature of their jobs and family commitments, they could not conduct practices anymore and this put the choir at a halt, explained the Music Director/Producer Mzwandile Dlamini. Influenced by contemporary Christian and African Pop (contemporary African Music) genres, the choir was reformed in 2016 with more members from the Hlatikhulu  and Mbabane FEA churches.

Churches

“I had written about 18 songs, and I wanted a female back up, so these women were the perfect candidates! It was just a very divine connection”, said Mzwandile Dlamini. Heavenly Streets have toured around Eswatini’s small to large churches and South African churches including the Graceway Church in Pretoria preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ through music.
Heavenly Streets has recorded a14 track album with freelance monitor engineer José Moses (monitor engineer for famous musicians including Joyous Celebration, Mafikizolo, Zonke and many more) in Johannesburg. “God was really on our side to get such a recording deal with the engineer; we wanted it to sound really good, and he did what he knows best”, Dlamini said.
After having recorded this album, the choir decided to introduce themselves by doing a live pre-album launch featuring Joyous Celebration’s Nomthie Sibisi on November 22, 2019.

Launch

The Pre-Album launch is bound to take place November 22 , 2019 at the Mbabane Free Evangelical Assemblies Auditorium (just adjacent the Mbabane Clinic). Popular artists Nduduzo Matse, Ndumie Nhleko, Harmony Trinity, Fakazi Samuel and the former member Sherz Mamba will feature in this event.
