MBABANE – The sky is the limit.

Reigning MTN SWAMA DJ of the Year, who is currently one of the most sought-after dance music spinners, DJ Zulu D, has bagged himself a main stage act at the upcoming annual Ponta Oktoberfest, scheduled for October 5, 2019 in Mozambique. The festival is one of the biggest dance fiestas in southern Africa, and is held at the Mozambican island town of Ponta Do Ouro. House Heads Crew, who are organisers of the Ponta Oktoberfest, revealed three lead acts of this year’s festival; these being DJ Zulu D from Eswatini, DJ Benny from Mozambique, and Shejay Zoe from South Africa.

“While we will have several performances from local artists and DJs, the three headline acts are set to bring the house down in style, as they are all seasoned and enjoy a massive following in Mozambique and in the region,” said House Heads Crew in a statement. They added that Zulu D had built himself a compelling profile in recent years; with several promoters jostling to book him, especially in this high season of summer festivities and carnivals. They also outlined the growth of the festival, stating that it was now a southern African event.
“Ponta Oktoberfest is no longer a Mozambican event but a regional dance event, given that revellers come from all over southern Africa. They come to enjoy great music by the beachside; to sample several beers at the beer expo that takes place at the festival; and to play several fun games throughout the day and night,” they said.

The festival is traditionally hosted at the Pinto’s Beach Bar in Ponta Do Ouro, an exquisite place that overlooks the wide blue Indian Ocean. Meanwhile, DJ Zulu D, who is fresh from performing in Zanzibar last month, where he caused a stir, said he was excited to be headlining this year’s Ponta Oktoberfest; which he said was one show he has always wished to play at.
“Being booked for such a huge festival is quite humbling, and totally encouraging. While I have played in Mozambique before, this will be my first ever Ponta Oktoberfest performance, and I will definitely bring nothing but my A-game, as I will represent the rest of the country on that hot stage,” said Zulu D.
